Styles of Home

We build two styles of home in Garland. The first is traditional framed construction on a post-tension slab foundation. This design lends itself well construction by volunteer crews and holds up well under the geological conditions of North Texas. These homes are energy-efficient with central heat and air to minimize utility bills and provide years of low maintenance. They include a one-car garage and range in size from three to four bedrooms, depending on family requirements.

The second style of home we build is frame construction on pier-and-beam foundation. The shells for these homes are constructed by the GISD Building Trades class with final finish carpentry provided by HFHGG volunteers. They include the same energy-efficient construction as our slab foundation homes along with central heat and air and all new appliances. Floorplans for these homes are similar to our other homes with the single exception that they include a detatched single-car garage. The pier-and-beam foundations of these homes are equally suited to the North Texas geology.
